Excellent !

I've written about the Oaken Lab's Far Afield so this the same product performance (lush, thick, silky but does not get in the way of the blade) but a different fragrance...and WHAT a fragrance it is. Subtle, soft, slightly musky and now to be top of my rotation list.

You might be looking at this soap and wonder if the scent profile is just marketing fluff... I mean "Paper" are you kidding me?! but let me tell you folks this actually does have a scent note of paper. It's hard to understand how the scent arrives to such a note and why but it just does and it works. I was a little worried that it was going to be a punch of jasmine to the face but it was well balanced and complex.

The soap base itself was very easy for me to load and lather. I was able to build a nice glossy hydrated lather in no time and upon working it in my face I was richly rewarded with a nice smooth lather the resulting affect was wonderfully slick lather that had enough protection to serve my shaving needs. The post shave feel was top notch as my skin felt well hydrated and smooth.
The scent remained on my face for a fair few hours but it's not one that is offensive at all. I would say that paper note really does stand out once you hit it but it goes well with the rose and sandalwood scent. I would say this one is more a woodsy scent but very much a pleasant one for my nose.

This being my first outing with an Oaken Lab soap and I must say it was a good one. If you're on the fence about Oaken Lab soaps then don't be. The biggest hurdle is finding a scent profile that agrees with you.
If there is anything I can take away from these soaps its the complexity of the scent which makes it difficult to choose but make no mistake these soaps are magnificent.
