Recycling Collection Point

Nespresso Pods, Gillette Razors, Garnier Skincare packaging, Oral B oral care packaging

As we become more aware of our responsibility to recycle, there’s also a growing awareness of some items that are hard to deal with.

After considering the recycling programs which work best for our location in The Blue Mountains, we have decided to become a collection point for a few of those: Nespresso branded coffee pods, Razor cartridges, Beauty and Skincare product packaging, and Oral care packaging and plastic toothbrushes. 

Please read on below to make sure you’re collecting the acceptable items for each particular program. 

Then, if you’re local to The Blue Mountains please bring them to our store in opening hours. However if you’re not near our store, then please take the step of exploring the Teracycle and Nespresso websites for your closest options.

 

With all items being returned for recycling, please be sure they’re as clean and DRY as possible.

Our opening hours are Wednesday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday & Sunday 9am-3pm

  

Nespresso Coffee Capsules collection:

Please ensure your capsules are as dry as possible. A good way to do this is to place scrunched newspaper in the bottom of the collection container and then remove it before bringing the capsules to our collection point in The Stray Whisker Store.

• Only Nespresso brand coffee pods

Gillette Razor Recycling Program (cartridge razors) (Terracycle)

Due to the hazardous nature of these items, it is required that all packages shipped through this program adhere to the following regulations:

• All brands accepted
• Disposable blades and razor handles
• Flexible plastic packaging
• Rigid plastic packaging
• Refillable razor handles
• We do not accept any other type of blade or sharp through this program - razors and their packaging only.

Outer cardboard packaging can be recycled with your local council, so please don’t include this.

 

Garnier Green Beauty Free Recycling Program (Terracycle)

No, you do not need to clean the packaging before dropping sending it to TerraCycle for recycling, but please remove as much of the remaining product as possible before shipping. Australia Post will not accept dripping items, so please make sure your items are dry.

Any brand of skincare packaging.

• All brands accepted
• Flexible plastic skincare packaging
• Skincare lids and pumps
• Skincare tubes and caps
• Skincare products plastic packaging 
• Skincare product glass packaging including droppers

The program does not accept:

• Aerosol cans or perfume bottles
• Makeup wipes or cloth face masks

Outer cardboard packaging can be recycled with your local council, so please don’t include this.

 

Colgate Oral Care Free Recycling Program (Terracycle)

This program accepts:

• Any brand of used or empty toothpaste tubes and caps, 
• Manual (plastic) toothbrushes, 
• Electric toothbrush heads, 
• Toothbrush and toothpaste tube plastic packaging, 
• Floss containers and interdental brushes.

 

NOTE: Electric toothbrushes, battery toothbrushes, and/or their parts are not accepted for recycling through the program. You can however recycle them through the Electric Toothbrush Recycling Program.

Outer cardboard packaging can be recycled with your local council, so please don’t include this.
