The Rhodia Touch Watercolour Book brings genuine professional-grade paper to a format small enough to take anywhere. Inside is 300gsm Fontaine cotton paper, made in the Netherlands and cold pressed to give it the fine, slightly textured grain that watercolourists look for. It's 100% cotton, so it holds up to repeated wetting and lifting without pilling or losing its surface, and it has enough body to resist buckling under a loaded brush.
The cold pressed finish sits between the smoothness of hot pressed paper and the heavy texture of rough paper, which makes it a good all-round choice whether you're laying in broad washes or working finer detail into foliage, water or faces. The paper is acid free, pH neutral and free of optical brighteners, so colours stay true and the pages won't yellow with age.
Twenty sheets are bound into a hardcover book with a black fabric cover and the Rhodia Touch logo debossed on the front. An elastic band keeps the book closed in transit, a ribbon marks your page, and an expanding pocket inside the back cover holds loose reference sheets, swatches or a spare brush. The A5 landscape orientation (21 x 14.8cm) suits panoramic studies, travel sketching and wider compositions that a portrait page would cut off.
This is a book for someone who paints often enough to notice the difference good paper makes, or who wants a sketchbook that can take water-based media without planning ahead for it. It's equally at home being carried in a bag for plein air work or kept on a desk for studio painting.

Why cold pressed paper
Cold pressed (also called NOT, for "not hot pressed") paper has a light, even texture that gives watercolour washes somewhere to settle without the heavy tooth of rough paper getting in the way of fine lines. It's the finish most watercolour painters reach for as a default, because it's forgiving for washes and still precise enough for detail work.
Care
Store the book closed with the elastic band fastened to protect the page edges and keep the cover flat. Keep it away from direct sunlight and damp conditions, as with any cotton paper product.
