Rhodia Touch Wirebound Mixed Media Artbook | A6 Landscape
A small-format sketchbook built around paper that can handle almost anything you put on it. The Rhodia Touch Mixed Media Artbook uses Clairefontaine's Paint'On paper, a 250gsm extra-white sheet made in France with a light, even grain. It's heavy enough to take washes of watercolour or ink without buckling, and smooth enough that pencil, charcoal and fineliner glide across the surface rather than catching on it.
This A6 artbook opens in landscape orientation, so you get a wide, low page that suits panoramic sketches, quick studies and horizontal layouts better than a standard portrait notebook does. The 40 pages are not microperforated, which keeps the binding solid if you're working wet media close to the spine and don't want pages pulling loose.
The wirebound construction sits inside a rigid, black canvas-covered hardback, with the Rhodia Touch logo embossed on the front. It lies flatter than a sewn or glued binding, which matters when you're painting right up to the gutter or working across a two-page spread. Black endpapers finish the inside covers.
What it's good for
This book suits mixed media work where you're moving between dry and wet techniques in the same sitting: graphite and wash, ink and watercolour, charcoal with the odd gouache highlight.
