Pilot iroshizuku Fountain Pen Ink 15ml - Ku-jaku

Pilot Iroshizuku Fountain Pen Ink 15ml - Ku-jaku (Peacock)

Ku-jakumeans peacock in Japanese, and the colour earns the name. It is a rich, blue-leaning teal - the ratio of blue to green precisely calibrated, with just enough green to give it depth and life without tipping into anything garish. Lighter than comparable dark turquoise inks, it lets the blue-green quality read clearly on the page. Confident and inviting, it carries a quiet elegance that works as well in a professional context as it does in personal correspondence.

Shading and sheen
Ku-jakushades attractively from medium to dark, which brings out the range of undertones within the ink. In saturated areas, a cinnamon-toned red sheen appears - more restrained in everyday writing, but visible at the stroke edges on coated papers. The result is an ink that rewards closer attention without demanding it.

Performance
Flow is rich and wet, gliding across the page without resistance. On fountain pen-friendly papers, strokes are clean and sharp. Drying time is on the quicker side - largely smudge-resistant within around 12 to 15 seconds, which is a genuine practical advantage. Water resistance is medium. Ku-jaku contains no shimmer particles and is not an iron gall formula, making it straightforward to use and kind to your pen.

The bottle
The 15ml bottle is made of heavy clear glass with a wide mouth to accommodate most nib sizes, and a conical recess at the base that gathers the remaining ink as the level drops - an elegant solution to a small but real frustration.

About Iroshizuku
The Iroshizuku line was launched by Pilot Corporation in December 2007. Each colour is named after a natural phenomenon, plant, or landscape in Japan - an inspiration that extends beyond naming into the formulation of the hue itself. The name Iroshizuku is a compound of the Japanese words for "colour" and "drop," evoking both the breadth of the palette and the precision of a single falling droplet.
