Tree of Life Journal

There is something quietly powerful about a journal that earns a second glance before you have even opened it. The Peter Pauper Press Tree of Life Journal does exactly that, and once you begin writing inside, it earns your trust as well.

The cover reproduces Gustav Klimt's iconic Tree of Life in full decorative splendour. Gold foil accents catch the light across the swirling branches and mosaic-like foliage, while glossy textured embossing gives the artwork a tactile quality that flat printing simply cannot replicate. Klimt painted the original between 1905 and 1909 as part of his celebrated Stoclet Frieze, and his vision of the tree as a symbol of spiritual continuity and the union of heaven and earth feels entirely at home on an object meant to hold your most considered thoughts.

Inside, 160 lightly lined pages offer an unhurried amount of writing space. The lines are printed in a soft, unobtrusive tone that guides your hand without imposing on the page, making the journal equally comfortable for sustained journaling, sketching, or the occasional pressed flower or ticket stub. The acid-free, archival quality paper performs well with fountain pens, ballpoints, fine liners, and standard pencils, with no feathering or noticeable bleed-through under ordinary writing conditions.

The binding lies flat when open, which matters more than it sounds. There is nothing more frustrating than a journal that fights you while you write. Here, the pages stay where you put them.

A few practical details that make daily use genuinely pleasant: an elastic band attached to the back cover keeps the journal closed when you are on the move or marks your last page; an inside back cover pocket is large enough for folded notes, business cards, or small mementos; and bronze-toned endsheets give the interior a considered, finished quality. Rounded corners reduce wear over time, and the sturdy sewn binding holds up to repeated, daily use without loosening.

The journal measures approximately 13 cm wide by 18 cm high, a size that sits comfortably in most bags and on most desks without feeling oversized or precious.

It makes an excellent gift for a writer, an artist, a reader, or anyone who takes their inner life seriously. It also makes a very good gift for yourself.
