What's in the box
Each pencil has a 2mm lead and a hexagonal barrel, so it sits comfortably in the hand and won't roll off the desk mid-sketch. STAEDTLER's super-bonded lead formulation is genuinely break-resistant, which matters more than people expect when you're leaning into a dark shadow or sharpening down to a fine point for detail work. The wood casing is sourced from PEFC-certified, sustainably managed forests, so the materials hold up to the same standard as the pencils themselves.
The six-grade spread is wide enough to take a drawing from a light construction sketch right through to final shading without needing to buy pencils individually. The HB and B grades handle everyday writing and note-taking just as well as they handle sketching, so this set earns its keep outside the studio too.

A few practical notes
Keep the metal sharpener's blade clean and replace it once it starts tearing the wood rather than cutting it cleanly, this protects the lead from snapping on sharpening.
Store the softer grades (4B and 6B) tip-up or in a case, as they smudge more easily than the harder grades and mark easily against other items in a bag.
