STAEDTLER Textsurfer Dry Triangular Highlighter Pencil
If you've ever had a highlighter bleed through a page, dry out in a drawer, or smudge across a freshly printed document, the Textsurfer Dry solves all three problems by not being a highlighter at all in the usual sense. It's a wood-cased pencil with a fluorescent wax core, and that simple shift in format changes what a highlighter can do.
Because there's no ink, there's nothing to dry out and nothing to bleed through. You can leave one in a pencil case for a year and it will work exactly as it did on day one. It glides over thin paper, inkjet prints, fax paper and carbon copies without soaking through to the other side, which makes it a genuinely useful tool for anyone working with delicate documents, legal files, archival notes or anything printed on paper too light for a standard highlighter.
The pencil itself is triangular in cross-section, which keeps it comfortable to hold for long stretches of highlighting and stops it rolling off a desk. The 4.0 mm lead gives a broad, even stripe of colour, bright enough to pick out what matters on a page without obscuring the text underneath. Like any pencil, it sharpens, so you're never left with a flat, worn tip the way you are with a conventional highlighter nib.
It's made from certified wood, in keeping with STAEDTLER's approach to sourcing, and the colour is lightfast, so highlighted pages won't fade if they sit somewhere sunny.
Available in yellow, orange, pink and green.
Who it suits
Students working through textbooks and photocopied readings, professionals marking up contracts or reports, anyone who files documents and wants highlighting that won't degrade the paper over time, and people who simply prefer the control of a pencil over a felt tip.

Why choose a dry highlighter pencil
A dry highlighter never runs out of ink and never dries up, so there's no wasted product and no streaky, faded patches partway through a highlighter's life.
You can see exactly how much colour is left just by looking at the pencil, the same way you would with any coloured pencil.
For anyone highlighting delicate or double-sided pages, it's also simply kinder to the paper.
