That surface does two jobs at once: it holds pigment where you put it rather than letting washes slide, and it stands up to lifting, scrubbing and repeated layers without pilling or going soft underneath the brush. At 300gsm, the paper has enough weight to take wet washes without heavy buckling, though as with any watercolour block under this weight, taping the edges or working in sections will help keep it flat if you're laying down a lot of water.

The cover is a black fabric hardback with the Rhodia Touch logo embossed into the front, and it closes with an elastic band to keep the accordion folded shut and the pages protected when it's not in use.
