Rhodia has been making exceptional paper products in France since 1934, and the scRipt Ballpoint Pen applies that same commitment to a writing instrument designed to sit alongside the iconic notebooks. The result is a pen that earns its place on a desk rather than simply occupying it.

The hexagonal barrel is machined from aluminium with a brushed anodised finish - a form that references the geometry of classic drafting pencils, and one that prevents the pen rolling off a surface. At 127 mm closed and weighing 20 g, it has the density of something considered without feeling heavy in the hand during extended writing sessions.

The 0.7 mm retractable tip uses a low-viscosity oil-based ink that lays down a clean, consistent line with minimal drag. This is a ballpoint that writes on the first stroke rather than requiring the coaxing that lesser refills often demand. The push-button retract mechanism is smooth and positive, with no looseness. The brass clip, engraved with the Rhodia wordmark, is firm enough to hold securely in a shirt pocket without distorting the fabric.

The pen accepts standard D1-format refills, which means it is both immediately useful and easy to maintain long-term. A range of quality third-party D1 refills is widely available, including options from Schmidt, giving you control over line weight and ink type as your preferences develop.
