Good drawing paper is one of those things you only notice when it isn't right. The tooth is wrong, the surface buckles under your pencil, the sheet tears where it shouldn't. Printworks has thought about this carefully.
Each pad contains 50 sheets of 150 gsm ivory white cartridge paper, produced to FSC certification standards, meaning the fibre source is responsibly managed from forest to finished sheet.
At 150 gsm, the paper sits in a practical middle ground: substantial enough to take graphite, coloured pencil, and fine-liner without ghosting through to the page beneath, yet light enough to allow confident, fluid mark-making. This is not copy paper dressed up - the weight and surface have been chosen with actual drawing in mind.
The finish is hot-pressed, which means the surface is smooth and even, produced by passing the paper through heated rollers during manufacture. For draughtsmanship, technical work, fine detail, portraiture, or any drawing where precision matters more than texture, hot-pressed is the correct choice.
Artists working in loose, expressive styles will also find it responsive - graphite blends cleanly, and lines read clearly against the warm ivory tone, which is noticeably easier on the eye than a stark optical white.
Each sheet measures 21 x 30 cm, the standard A4 format, and the pad dimensions are 30 x 21 x 0.8 cm with a total weight of 300 g. Compact enough to slip into a bag, sturdy enough to sit open on a desk without complaint.
