Pomegranate Hilma af Klint "No. 3, Youth" 1000-Piece Puzzle

Painted in 1907, years before abstraction had a name or a movement, No. 3, Youthbelongs to Hilma af Klint's monumental series The Ten Largest - ten vast tempera paintings mapping the spiritual arc of human life from childhood through old age. The third in the sequence, it captures youth at full intensity: a vivid orange ground alive with spirals, shells, egg-like forms, and inscribed words including "ave" and "Maria," woven together as if the canvas itself were a meditation. Blue and yellow forms suggest the interplay of feminine and masculine principles. The spirals speak of growth and becoming. The orange field pulses with something close to urgency.

Af Klint painted the entire series in forty days, working on large sheets of paper laid flat on her studio floor. She believed she was working under spiritual commission and described her hand as guided rather than deliberate. She did not exhibit the work in her lifetime, stipulating that it remain unseen for twenty years after her death. When the world finally encountered it in the 1980s, and then at scale at the Guggenheim in 2018, the response was overwhelming. More than a million people saw the Paintings for the Future exhibition alone.

Pomegranate has reproduced No. 3, Youth as a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle with the colour fidelity and material quality the work demands. The pieces are cut from thick recycled board using a ribbon-cut die, which produces a firm, satisfying fit with minimal dust. The printing is on 250gsm matte art paper, which renders af Klint's luminous oranges, blues, and yellows without glare or colour shift. A 23 x 30.5cm reference insert of the full image is included to assist with assembly.

This is a considered, unhurried puzzle. The swirling botanical forms and layered symbolism reward close attention, and the composition's radial energy makes it an absorbing challenge rather than a mechanical one. Completed, it assembles to 51 x 69cm - large enough to display properly if you choose to frame it.

A thoughtful gift for anyone drawn to art history, Scandinavian modernism, or the history of abstraction. Equally at home with those who simply want to spend a few hours in the company of one of the most quietly radical paintings ever made.
