Pilot Chanomegumi Limited Edition Fountain Pen
There is something quietly radical about this pen. The Pilot Chanomegumi (茶の恵, meaning "the blessing of tea") is a quantity-limited collaboration between Pilot Corporation and Ito En, Japan's largest producer of green tea.
The barrel is wrapped in Limited Edition Colours Bands which relate to traditional tea ceremonies.
The pen is the Pilot MR Metropolitan cocoon, a Japanese-market design built on a brass body with a satisfying heft that most fountain pens in this price bracket simply do not offer.
At 138mm capped and 24g, it sits comfortably in the hand without posting, though the cap posts securely when preferred. The screw cap closes with a clean, deliberate thread rather than a snap, which protects the nib during travel and storage.
The nib is Pilot's own special alloy, available here in your choice of Fine or Medium. Pilot's Japanese Fine is worth noting for anyone used to Western sizing: it writes closer to what many European manufacturers call Extra Fine, producing a crisp, controlled line well suited to detailed work, journaling, or writing on coated or lightweight papers. The Medium lays down a slightly broader, more expressive line with good ink flow.
Both nibs are smooth from the box, which is consistent with Pilot's manufacturing standard across the range.
The pen accepts Pilot's proprietary ink cartridges and is compatible with the Pilot CON-40 converter (sold separately), which opens the pen up to the full range of bottled inks. One black ink cartridge is included.
This is a limited release, produced in restricted quantities for the Japanese domestic market. Once the run is sold through, it will not be reprinted.

A note on nib sizing
Japanese Fine and Medium nibs write finer than their European and American equivalents. If you currently use a European Medium and want a similar line width, choose the Pilot Medium.
If you prefer a fine, precise line, the Pilot Fine will suit you well. We are happy to advise in-store or by phone.
