The Handle: High-grade resin
High-grade resin is a dense synthetic material that takes a high polish and holds it. Each handle starts as a solid rod, turned to the VIVO's signature rounded shape, then polished in several stages to bring out its gloss. The result is a handle that feels substantial in the hand and keeps its shine with normal care over years of use.

The Razor: Closed comb safety razor

This safety razor uses a closed comb head, meaning the edge that guides the blade against your skin has no teeth, unlike an open comb design. Combined with a slightly steeper blade angle, this gives a gentler shave than an open comb razor, which makes it a sensible starting point if you're new to safety razor shaving while you get a feel for the right angle and pressure. It still delivers the close, clean lines around the jaw and sideburns that a safety razor is known for.

The razor takes standard double-edge blades (sold separately).

The Brush: Pure badger

The brush head is made from pure badger hair, a material that sits between the softer, finer grades of badger and coarser bristle brushes. It's firm enough to work lather properly into stubble and give your face a light massage as you go, while still being gentle on skin.

Pure badger hair runs in natural shades from brownish grey to black, so some colour variation between brushes is normal and not a flaw. The knot measures 21mm across, a comfortable size for building lather in a bowl or on the face.

Using the set

• Wet your face with warm water to soften the beard, then work your preferred shaving cream or soap into a lather using the badger brush and the bowl provided.
• Apply the lather in circular motions to lift the hair away from the skin. Shave with the grain first, using light pressure and short strokes, rinsing the blade often.
• The closed comb head means you can go over an area a second time against the grain once you're comfortable, for an extra close finish. 
• Rinse the brush thoroughly after each use and stand it bristle-side up or in a stand to dry fully between shaves, which keeps the badger hair in good condition for years.
