Kissing Rose is the brand's limited edition tribute to the rose itself, pairing the warmth of Bulgarian rose with a clean thread of mint, so the result reads as fragrance first and toothpaste second. It belongs to the Marvis Garden Collection, alongside Dreamy Osmanthus and Sinuous Lily, and like the rest of that collection it will not be around indefinitely.
What makes Kissing Rose worth a place on the bathroom shelf is the contrast at its centre. Bulgarian rose has a soft, almost powdery sweetness, the kind found in fine perfumery rather than oral care. Marvis lets that sit alongside a clear mint finish, so the floral note never tips into something cloying. Brushing becomes a brief, considered moment rather than a chore, and that is very much the point.
Underneath the fragrance, this is a proper toothpaste. The formula carries fluoride for cavity protection and xylitol to help manage oral bacteria, built on Marvis's traditional cleaning powders, which are designed to clean thoroughly without being harsh on enamel or dentin. The paste itself is dense and concentrated, in keeping with the old style Italian process Marvis has used since the brand began, and it contains no preservatives or ingredients of animal origin.
Each tube holds 75ml, dressed in Marvis's recognisable packaging with its sculpted cap, the kind of object that looks deliberate sitting next to a sink or packed into a wash bag. Use a pea sized amount morning and night, brushing as you normally would, and spit rather than rinse so the fluoride has a chance to do its work.
