Jacques Herbin The Colours of Paris Softcover Notebook A5 - Toits de Paris

Jacques Herbin The Colours of Paris Softcover Notebook A5 Lined | Rooftops of Paris

Jacques Herbin has been making ink in Paris since 1670, and this notebook carries that heritage quietly but with conviction. Part of Les Couleurs de Paris collection, the Rooftops of Paris design draws on one of the city's most distinctive features: the zinc-clad mansard rooftops that define the Haussmann-era skyline. It is a notebook with a clear point of view.

The cover
The softcover is printed with an illustration of the Paris rooftop panorama - that layered geometry of grey zinc, dormer windows, and chimney pots that sits above the boulevards. It is not a photograph or a generic cityscape. The design is deliberate and considered, in keeping with how Jacques Herbin approaches all of its stationery.

The paper
Inside, 32 pages of ivory-toned paper at 120 gsm. This is the specification that matters most to anyone who writes with a fountain pen, a glass nib, or a quality rollerball. At 120 gsm, the paper takes ink well, resists bleed-through reliably, and shows minimal ghosting even with wetter inks. The ivory tone is easy on the eye over long writing sessions, and the smooth surface allows the nib to move without resistance.

The pages are ruled with fine horizontal lines, well-spaced for everyday handwriting as well as more considered journalling or note-taking.

Construction
The notebook is thread-bound, which means it lies reasonably flat when open and will hold together far longer than a perfect-bound book of the same size. The A5 format (148 x 210 mm) is the most versatile size for desk use and travel - large enough for proper writing, small enough for a bag or coat pocket.

The collection connection
Les Couleurs de Paris is a series of five writing inks from Jacques Herbin, each named for a Paris landmark or neighbourhood. Gris Toits (Rooftops Grey) is the ink that corresponds directly to this notebook's cover design - a cool blue-grey that reads exactly like the zinc rooftops it references. The notebook and ink work well together as a considered gift, or simply as a coherent pair for your own desk.
