Vert Pre is the green of new grass after winter, a clean and unambiguous spring colour with real presence on the page. It sits firmly in the fresh, bright end of the green spectrum, neither too yellow nor too blue, and it writes exactly as it looks on the label. What you see is what flows from the nib.

This ink belongs to Jacques Herbin's La Perle des Encrescollection, a range of 35 inks bearing evocative French names, each formulated to a consistent standard of quality. The line is made in France, by a house with roots going back to 1670, making Herbin one of the oldest continuously producing ink makers in the world.

About the ink
La Perle des Encres inks are water-based and pH neutral, formulated with carefully chosen dyes for richness and consistency. They are finely filtered to minimise sediment and flow cleanly through the feed of a properly maintained pen. Lubrication is good, which translates to a smooth, confident line that suits both everyday writing and considered correspondence.

Vert Pre performs well across a range of nib sizes. Finer nibs will show the colour as lighter and more delicate; broader nibs or wetter pens will give greater saturation and more visible shading. The ink is non-toxic and carries no strong smell.

Water resistance is moderate, as is typical for this class of dye-based fountain pen ink. It is not formulated for archival permanence, but it holds well under normal conditions.
