Florentine Bees Journal | Silver Foil Hardcover Notebook
A repeating pattern of bees moves across delicate white blossoms on the cover of this small-format journal, each one framed with the kind of detail you'd expect from a much larger notebook. The design is embossed and finished with hand-applied touches of gold foil, with gloss highlights picking out the pattern further. It's the sort of object that looks at home on a desk or tucked into a bag, and it carries a line from garden writer Elizabeth Lawrence inside:
Open it up and you'll find 160 pages of smooth 120gsm paper, acid-free and archival quality, so whatever you write or sketch will hold up over time. The paper takes pen or pencil well, with light grey lines offering gentle guidance without crowding the page. A pocket inside the back cover is useful for storing loose notes, pressed flowers or ticket stubs, and a matching elastic closure keeps everything secure when the journal is on the move.
The hardcover binding has rounded corners, which helps protect against the wear that square-cornered notebooks tend to show first, and complementary end-sheets carry the design through to the inside covers. At 12.7cm wide and 17.8cm high, it's a popular small format that slips easily into a bag, a backpack or a coat pocket.
Well suited to journaling, sketching, recording quotations and poems, or simply keeping a small notebook close at hand. Also a thoughtful gift for anyone with an interest in gardens, bees or beautifully made stationery.
