The Sheaffer 100 has long been one of the quiet workhorses of the fountain pen world - brass-bodied, well-balanced, and honest about what it is. This Emily in Paris edition takes that same reliable platform and finishes it in a warm champagne gold lacquer with PVD-plated trims to match, resulting in a pen that is unapologetically decorative without sacrificing any of the practical qualities that make the 100 series worth owning.
The collaboration detail is handled with restraint. A small bow-shaped metal emblem sits on the clip as a nod to the show's aesthetic, and an Eiffel Tower insignia appears on the cap finial. A co-branded centre band completes the collector's touches without overwhelming the pen's overall line. The result is a limited edition piece that doesn't feel costume-y - it reads as a well-made pen first, a collectible second.
Writing experience
The nib is stainless steel, available in your choice of fine or medium. Sheaffer's fine nib delivers a controlled, precise line well suited to smaller handwriting or detail work, producing a line roughly equivalent to a 0.4 mm gel pen on standard paper. The medium nib writes with more presence and flow, closer to a 0.6 mm, and rewards those who prefer a slightly wetter, more expressive stroke.
Both nibs are finished with PVD gold-tone plating to match the pen's overall aesthetic.
The filling system is cartridge/converter. A converter and two Sheaffer proprietary cartridges are included, so the pen is ready to use from the box with bottled ink or straight from cartridge if you prefer. The snap cap seats securely and posts firmly onto the barrel for those who write with the cap posted.
Construction and dimensions
The body is solid brass with a lacquered finish - this is what gives the pen its satisfying weight in the hand. It is not a lightweight pen. Capped, it measures approximately 140 mm in length with a barrel diameter of around 13 mm. Weight with converter fitted is approximately 34 g. The grip section narrows to roughly 9.4 mm, which sits comfortably in most hands without feeling either pinched or too wide. For reference, this is a moderately compact pen, best suited to medium or smaller hands, though it posts to around 153 mm for those who prefer writing with the cap on.
In the box
The pen is presented in an FSC-certified gift box with a soft-laminated floral shimmer finish - a considered touch that makes it a natural choice for gifting. Contents include the fountain pen, one Sheaffer converter, two proprietary ink cartridges, an information card, and a warranty card.
A note on the Sheaffer 100 series
The 100 series occupies a considered position in Sheaffer's range - accessible enough for a first quality fountain pen, substantial enough that experienced writers return to it regularly. The brass construction and PVD finishing are genuine, not decorative shortcuts. This Emily in Paris edition is a limited collaboration, and champagne gold as a colourway is not part of the standard 100 range.
