The Graphite 777 is the mechanical pencil STAEDTLER built for people who actually use one every day. It's a genuine writing tool, and it shows in the small details: the grip, the lead mechanism, the eraser. Nothing here is decorative.
The barrel is finished in a soft, rubberised coating with a frosted, semi-transparent look, so it sits comfortably in the hand through a full afternoon of writing, note-taking or sketching without turning slippery or sore. Inside, a spring-cushioned lead sleeve absorbs pressure as you write, which is the main reason these pencils resist snapping the lead the way cheaper mechanicals do.
The click-advance mechanism is smooth and precise, and the point retracts fully into the barrel, so it's safe to drop straight into a pocket, pencil case or bag without stabbing through the lining.
At the other end is a genuinely useful eraser: extra-large, made from latex-free PVC, and capable of lifting a proper amount of graphite before it needs replacing. The pencil takes standard 0.5mm HB leads, so keeping it going is as simple as picking up a tube of STAEDTLER Mars micro carbon refills. Buy one well and it will outlast most of what's around it on the desk.
It's a genuinely ambidextrous design with a sprung metal clip for securing it to a notebook, folder or shirt pocket, and it comes in a range of barrel colours, so there's room to pick one that suits your desk or your handwriting mood.
