MD Product's goat leather notebook cover for the B6 Slim is a considered object: cut from a single piece of undyed, vegetable-tanned goatskin sourced from the highlands of Central Asia, it arrives pale and almost naked in appearance.
Over weeks and months of handling, it darkens, softens, and takes on a depth of colour entirely shaped by your use of it. No two covers age the same way. That is the point.
The leather itself is smooth and unusually supple for its weight, with a flexibility that makes it pleasant to hold open at a desk or carry flat in a bag. It is robust without feeling stiff, and thin enough that it adds almost no bulk to the notebook. Because it has not been dyed or treated with surface finishes, the natural grain, subtle variation, and any minor marks present in the hide remain visible. These are not flaws; they are evidence that you are holding genuine material rather than a manufactured approximation of it.
The cover wraps the B6 Slim MD Notebook precisely, held in place by folded inner flaps rather than clips or elastic. On the inside, two card slots sit flush against the inner covers, useful for a transit card, a folded receipt, or a few stamps. The pen loop is integrated into the spine edge of the cover; when not in use it lies flat, adding no ridge or bump beneath your writing hand.
A note on breaking in the cover
MD Product recommends exposing the cover to natural sunlight for two to three weeks before regular use. This allows the vegetable tannins to set and begin developing the protective patina that will carry the cover through years of daily handling. It is a small investment of patience that pays out over the life of the object.
