Originally conceived by the president of Clairefontaine for his own use, its layout reflects decades of understanding what a productive meeting actually requires: a clear record of what was discussed, what was decided, and what needs to happen next.
The paper, as you'd expect from Rhodia
The paper is 90gsm ivory brushed vellum, made at the Clairefontaine mill in Étival-Clairefontaine, France - the same mill that has been producing some of the finest writing paper in the world since 1858. It handles fountain pens, rollerballs, and fine-tipped markers without feathering or bleed-through, and the ivory tone is noticeably easier on the eye than stark white under office lighting.
A layout designed for purpose
Each right-hand page carries a date header, a topic summary field, and dedicated sections for Notes and Actions. The left-hand pages continue with additional Notes and Actions space, giving you a complete, self-contained record of every meeting in a single spread. There is no need to reconstruct what was agreed upon after the fact - the format guides you to capture it in the moment.
Pages are micro-perforated for clean, easy removal, so action items can be torn out and distributed without leaving ragged edges behind.
The cover and build
The soft cover is finished in Italian leatherette with a glued spine and embossed Rhodia logo. It has the kind of tactile quality that holds up to daily use without looking battered - supple rather than stiff, substantial without being heavy.
What's included
A perpetual calendar sits at the front of the book. The black cover is complemented by Rhodia's signature orange accents throughout: an orange ribbon bookmark, an orange elastic closure band, an orange pen loop, and an expanding inner pocket on both the front and back pages. The pocket is genuinely useful business cards, loose receipts, a printed agenda - it keeps the book self-contained rather than requiring a separate folder.
