Spiral Ring Notebook — B6 Paper Pocket
There are notebooks built for writing, and then there are notebooks built for collecting. This one is firmly in the second camp. The B6 Paper Pocket Spiral Ring Notebook from Traveler's Company is designed around a single, genuinely useful idea: every page is a pocket.
Sixteen sheets fold open to reveal 32 individual pockets - each one the right size for a postcard, a transit ticket, a photograph, a receipt, a clipping, or whatever paper ephemera you accumulate while moving through the world. Rather than arriving home with a coat pocket full of loose paper, you leave the house with this instead.
Made in Japan. Designed to last.
The cover is resin-infused, which gives it a firm but tactile feel - not plasticky, not precious. It can be tossed in a bag, rained on a little, and generally used as a working object rather than kept pristine. The single spiral ring binding is gold in colour and hand-attached at Traveler's Company's Nagareyama Factory, located 40 km outside Tokyo - a facility that has been producing notebooks for more than fifty years.
The kangaroo embossed on the cover is not decorative flourish for its own sake. Each notebook in the Spiral Ring range carries an animal that reflects its contents: the kangaroo, with its pouch, is the obvious and fitting symbol for this one.
MD Paper - the detail that makes the difference.
The pockets themselves are made from Traveler's Company's original MD Paper Cream. If you've used MD Paper before, you already know what this means: a smooth, lightly textured surface with just enough grip for pencil, no bleed-through from fountain pen ink, and a warm cream tone that's considerably easier on the eye than stark white under artificial light. If this is your first encounter with it, expect a noticeable step up from standard notebook paper.
The cream tone also means that blue-black fountain pen inks in particular read beautifully against it - the contrast is close, the colour rich.
Practical dimensions.
The B6 format sits at 19.1 cm × 12.7 cm - wide enough to hold a standard postcard flat, and narrow enough to slide into a jacket pocket or a small travel bag without bulk. At 1.78 cm deep, it doesn't add meaningful weight to a day pack. This is a size that earns its place on longer trips precisely because it doesn't demand to be accommodated.
Who this is for?
- Travellers who buy postcards and never know where to keep them.
- People who collect menus, stamps, stickers, or pressed flowers.
- Anyone with a habit of pocketing paper on the road and losing it before they get home.
- Photographers who print small-format images and want somewhere to keep them.
- It also works as a simple archiving tool for receipts, business cards, or any documentation you want to keep flat and together.
