Midori's clear A5 Codex cover is a study in purposeful restraint: a single sheet of transparent PVC, precisely dimensioned, that wraps the MD Notebook Journal 1 Day 1 Page without adding visual noise or unnecessary bulk. It protects what matters and steps out of the way.
What it does
At only 0.2 mm thick, the cover is lightweight and flexible but still tough enough to protect your notebook from scrapes and smudges. The sleeves hold the front and back covers of the notebook firmly in place. Nothing shifts, nothing slides. It's the kind of fit that feels like it was engineered alongside the notebook itself, because it was.
By placing the cover over the notebook's glassine paper, the inorganic feel of the vinyl is softened, restoring something closer to the understated warmth Midori intends. If you prefer a cleaner look, the cover works equally well directly over the board covers.
The integrated pen loop sits neatly on the spine side and fits pens up to 10 mm in diameter, so you can always have your favourite pen close at hand. That's wide enough for a slim fountain pen or a quality ballpoint, though it suits a more modest instrument best, which feels appropriately in keeping with the MD ethos.
Built for the Codex, specifically
This cover is designed specifically for the thicker 1 Day 1 Page Codex journal. It is not the same dimensions as the standard A5 MD Notebook cover and is not interchangeable with it.
This cover is also not compatible with the MD Diary 1 Day 1 Page, which has a different construction. If you're unsure which notebook you have, the Codex is the bound, case-style journal rather than the lighter, staple-bound diary format.

Compatibility note
This cover is sized for the MD Notebook Journal A5 Codex 1 Day 1 Page. While some users have successfully used it with other A5 notebooks of similar dimensions, Midori designed it for their Codex journal and fit cannot be guaranteed with third-party notebooks. The notebook itself is sold separately.
